05 Jan New Year Reflection!
Happy New Year Yogis!!
The new year tends to be a time of re-flection, re-evaluating, and re-committing.
We evaluate the year past, our accomplishments, the projects un-finished, relationships we’ve strengthened and those we’ve drifted away from. The old adage “Out with the old, in with the new” gives us time to reflect on what no longer serves us. What we can let go of and then re-prioritize what means the most to us; what brings us peace, happiness, and joy.
- Where are we in our commitments?
- Where do we want to be?
- How do we get there?
I love the quote by Anna Quindlen:
“The life you have led doesn’t need to be the only life you’ll have.”
It gives me hope. It tells me that where I’ve screwed up doesn’t mean forever…I can learn from past mistakes and steer myself in a new direction. If I can imagine something different I can make it happen. This is good news!! The hard part is imagining something different. Do not be dismayed though. Practice can bring about the change you want to see in yourself. Which reminds me of another quote:
“Be the change you wish to see in the world.” ~ Mahatma Ghandi.
This one tells me I only have to imagine the way I want others to be and treat me and then imagine myself being and treating others in that way and I will experience joy. Sound Easy? I’ll let you know next year.
