Kick It Up Asana!

Kick It Up Asana!

OK, so you made some New Year’s resolutions…and now you are reassessing if your commitment matches your intention. This is where you pull up your boot straps and kick it into high gear. I don’t mean spend more time or invest more money. I’m talking about following through with what you’ve already started! See your intention through by showing up. Did you know that 80% of success is mind set and 20% is strategy? That’s true for ANYTHING you do. I’ll bet you have studied the strategy but have you followed through? If not, could it be that you are not having enough fun with the journey? I’m inviting you to have fun in your life! Here are some helpful tips that have been useful for me…

  • At the end of the day write down all your accomplishments and then spend a minute celebrating! Give yourself an internal pat on the back…”you really did a good job on that presentation”, or “I impressed myself today by showing up for yoga class”, or whatever you DID do – especially if it was hard for you to do. Relish the feeling. Do NOT let your mind say “but I could’ve, should’ve, would’ve done ______” that will only serve to nullify your success. Focus on how you showed up in LIFE!! You may impress yourself.
  • Set the tone for future success… Imagine the celebration dance you will be doing tomorrow at the end of the day after you ___________ (fill in the blank of what you want to move forward on, at work, in relationships, health, etc). Make it real.
  • Use your imagination to remove any stumbling blocks that are in the way of reaching your goals. For instance, I like to procrastinate on items that I need collaboration on. So I imagine myself on the phone with this person (whom I may be avoiding) and talking to them like they were a long lost friend. It makes it easier to make the phone call and move forward with my plans.
  • Every day make the tough decisions that take you a step closer to your goal. If it doesn’t work out you will have exercised your decision making skills and it will be that much easier to make your next wiser decision.

Life is REALLY all about the PLAY and FUN!  So kick up your heels and PLAYasana!

Do you have a great “play of the day” that makes life FUN? If so, share it with us!!

Linda, this is some great advice on not focusing on what should have/could have been.

I have a great quote by Sterling Sill:
“Hang on the walls of your mind the memory of your successes. Take counsel of your strength, not your weakness. Think of the good jobs you have done. Think of the times when you rose above your average level of performance and carried out an idea or a dream or a desire for which you had deeply longed. Hang these pictures on the walls of your mind and look at them as you travel the roadway of life.”
