- Find it challenging to get things done this holiday season?
- Is the colder-darker days beckoning a day in your pj’s?
- Does your energy seem sluggish, not claiming your power?
This mudra monday we share the Agni Mudra (shiva linga). This mudra awakens your creative power by grounding you and helping you muster up the motivation to take the next steps in life. I recently became an empty nester and thought that this new found time would be great to fill in with dreams yet to be realized. Instead what ensued was a low sense of motivation to do anything. Basically I was depressed. Hard to admit, but it’s true. I begin using this mudra to not only give me motivation but to help digest (agni) this new experience I had never felt before. What I soon found was that I still had a desire to fulfill my purpose, I just let a few hesitant thoughts gum up the works. I became energetically congested, or stuck. We can discover this with any major change in life, like a new marriage, move, or job etc… Change resisted will eventually tell you that things can’t stay the same, as much as we may want them to. So if the fact that summer (or any perfect situation) is gone has you wishing it back into existence and its not working. Accept the current circumstances of your life and practice this mudra when you feel kicked off your center.
Find a quiet space to sit comfortably. Begin with the left hand in your lap with the palm facing upward and all fingers next to each other. Place the right hand fist, in the left palm, with the right thumb extended upward like a flame (representing the fire of digestion). Close your eyes and breath slow and deep for 5-10 minutes.
Skip this mudra if you current digestion is experiencing an ulcer, reflux or heart burn.
