04 Feb Confessions of a Caregiver
Wow, I really didn’t think I would be caring for my older brother while he goes through cancer. The many types of caregiving I’ve done has given me the ability to do it. Caring for a child, caring for those your in charge of in the workplace, and the personal care of ourself. Do you Care?? How much do you care & what action do you take? I have seen ups & downs in both my brother and my own mental & emotional state. Feelings of exhaustion, confusion, frustration, worry, hopeful and then hopeless, helpless and compassion. It’s humbling to see the fire & light dim in someone’s eyes. See them shift from self sufficiency to dependance. Desire turn into apathy. Our health truly is our wealth!! What we do or don’t do to maintain our health is no ones responsibility but ours. And yet we can be there for those that need encouragement. Assist them in choosing a better direction for their well-being.
As a yoga instructor I have cared for many students over the years. Seen many physical abilities & limitations, mental perspectives, different levels of motivation and souls that thirst for excellence. I’m truly amazed at the variety of ways we can experience our bodies, minds, souls and life in general. When you draw on your highest being a caring attitude resides. Care for what you eat, care for thoughts you think, care for movement of our bodies & stillness of our minds, care for communication, care for positive emotions and release of the negative. This is true Health Care. Then we can help support others to care for themselves.
