Class Descriptions

Yoga- A mind-body, dynamic combination of strength, sweat and stillness that unleash your potential, reveal your core strength, and enhance your everyday life. Yoga will tone your muscles, sculpt your body, improve your flexibility, build muscular strength and endurance, increase your lung capacity, calm your nervous system and hone your mind. It heals, detoxifies, electrifies, and regenerates both body and mind at the deepest levels.

Entry Level Classes:

Fundamentals- Entry level yoga with emphasis on form and function of basic poses in combination with the development of breath work. The perfect preparation for all classes offered at Lifted Life Yoga, or a great class on its own merit. This still challenging class will teach universal concepts and principles of alignment, and will focus on modifications for each individual. Yes, you will sweat (60 min.)

Intro to Yoga- A FREE class to demystify “YOGA” and bring familiarity to the next class you take. Still the same mind-body workout, but introduced at a much slower pace. You will have the chance to learn the foundational breathing techniques, the essential yoga poses, and the principles that are incorporated in this workout, without being expected to keep up with the rest of the class. While the pace is slower, expect to move, breath, and sweat. (60 min.) FREE Next Intro: April 28th @9am

All Level Classes:

Lifted Yoga- Lifted Consciousness, Lifted Existence, Lifted Hearts, Lifted Yoga. In this class we will utilize energetic and gentle postures to produce strength, harmony, expression and freedom. Designed to uplift, nourish and balance as we come from our heart, inner beauty and (sublime) essence.  This class seeks to align our bodies, our minds and our hearts in the divine current of connectivity between ourselves and all LIFE. In truth, an experience that cannot be put into words.  Come into Purity~Precision~Pleasure! (75 min.)

Restore- Our most gentle routine- this class is designed to oxygenate, massage, energize your entire body while soothing and calming your nervous system. Great for those of you suffering from sports injuries, arthritis, tendinitis, back pain, or from too much stress in your life. This class compliments running, hiking, weight lifting, and power yoga classes. (75 min. )

Specialty Classes:

HOT yoga- This class will be at a constant flow, of our own design, set at a temperature of 88-90 degrees. You will challenge your muscles, nourish the joints, sweat out toxins and still your busy mind in this very athletic workout style of yoga.  (60 min.)  Begins January 5th 2011

Bring a bath towel, a water bottle and your own yoga mat for your comfort and health. We have mats to purchase.

Anusara Yoga- Founded by John Friend in 1997, Anusara yoga is a school of hatha yoga, which unifies a life-affirming Shiva-Shakti Tantric philosophy of intrinsic goodness with Universal Principles of Alignment. Class begins with a chant followed by a heart themed focus. You will master techniques necessary for optimizing your practice, and achieve skills for a variety of poses. (75-80 min.)

Mom and Me-Bring your child along for some fun with yoga. For child 6 weeks to crawling, or over 3 years when cleared with instructor. (60 min.)

Prenatal/Perinatal-Yoga for mommies-to-be! Focusing on specific modifications and strength work for pregnant women, the class is set up to both relax the mother-to-be and to prepare her for the most athletic event of her life. Prenatal yoga will help you embrace your ever changing body, learn how to compensate for your shifting center of gravity, prepare mothers for labor, delivery, and more. During class we will practice safe stretching, releasing tension, and strengthening of the body preparing women for one of the most challenging and rewarding events of their lives. (60 minutes) NOT offered at this time-perhaps in the spring.

*This program conforms to the safety guidelines of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists for exercise during pregnancy.

Runner’s Yoga- Great before or after workouts or to speed recovery without interfering with your existing training regimen. For the athlete, runner, weekend warrior, or the Power Yogi looking for a Yoga class that will counter the effect of over-training. Our runner’s class is necessary for those of you looking to balance musculature, decrease muscle tension and injury, and increase concentration and focus. This is the perfect cross-training workout. (75 minutes)

Power Classes:

Power Vinyasa: Sculpt your ideal body, free your true self by removing blocks, transform your life.  Flex a new muscle that gives you true inner and outer strength, empowering you to shift from thoughts to experience, from past projected forward to right here, right now.  A vigorous and invigorating practice that unleashes power from the inside out.  Taught by Certified Baron Baptiste Power Yoga Vinyasa teacher, Marc Weinreich. (90 min.)

Power Hour- One hour of pure POWER… Yes, you will sweat.

Yoga Power or Power 1- Our basic FLOW yoga workout, designed to build progressively, is practical and accessible for the returning yoga student as well as those of you new to the discipline. It is a process-oriented routine where students of every level can immediately enjoy the benefits, see improvements, and use new-found inner and outer strength to increase the quality of their workout.  (75 minutes)

Power 2- Out most challenging class on the schedule, recommended only for those of you who have attended at least 10 Power 1 classes. This class will challenge you, guaranteed, no matter what your level of athletic ability. Be ready to move through a nonstop flow routine that will focus on exercising the mind-body-breath connection, increasing strength, finding balance and agility, and experiencing the difference between reaction and response. Be prepared to sweat. (75 minutes)

Zumba- We are thrilled to add Zumba to our health maintaining options. Come and burn tons of calories by shaking and dancing. Zumba is a fun dance type form of exercise. Move your hips to a Latin/African beat and celebrate your body.

Wear comfortable, breathable clothing and bring light tread, flexible, supportive aerobic shoes seperate from the ones you walk in with, to keep our floors clean.
